Detailed Review: Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 - Superior Sound and ANC Performance

Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 Review

Hi there!

As a big fan of Edifier, I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing several of their products over the years, including some impressive speakers. Music is an essential part of my life; whether I'm streaming Spotify or YouTube Music, I always seek out the best sound quality. When I take my dog for a walk, my earbuds are a constant companion, ensuring that I can enjoy my favorite tunes on the go. Today, I’m excited to delve into the world of their latest offering, the NeoBuds Pro 2. These earbuds, which bear a resemblance to AirPods, boast high-res audio wireless capabilities and come equipped with a fast pair function with Google. I’ve been testing the sleek white model, and I’m eager to share my honest thoughts on their performance and features.

let’s talk about hi-res audio and ldac codec

One of the standout features of the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 is their high-res audio wireless capability. This is a crucial feature for any audiophile. However, it’s important to note that if you’re using an iPhone, you won’t be able to take full advantage of high-res audio wireless since Apple doesn’t support this codec. This limitation is unfortunate, but it doesn’t mean that these earbuds will sound bad on an iPhone – far from it. They will still deliver impressive sound quality, just not at their full potential.

For Android users, though, it's a different story. If you have a device like a Google Pixel or Samsung, you’ll be able to enjoy the high-res audio wireless feature fully, provided you’re using a streaming service that supports it. While Spotify and YouTube Music don’t offer high-res audio, services like Amazon Music and Apple Music do. Interestingly, Apple Music actually sounds better on Android devices equipped with high-res audio earbuds than on Apple devices in this scenario.

packaging

Packaging is an aspect that I, and many of my readers, pay close attention to. It’s a clear indicator of a brand’s dedication to detail. The Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 does not disappoint in this regard. The box is sleek and elegant, with a clean white design that immediately catches the eye. Opening it up, you’re greeted with an impressive presentation. The inside features soundproofing black cushions, adding a touch of sophistication and protection.

The package includes a leaflet, multiple sizes of earbud tips(7) to ensure a perfect fit, a handy little bag for traveling, a charging cable, and another leaflet with more information. The attention to detail in the packaging is noteworthy, making it an excellent gift option. When a brand takes such care in designing their packaging, it’s a good indication that they’ve put the same effort into creating a high-quality product.

design

Moving on to the design of the case and the earbuds themselves, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 continue to impress. The case is extremely slick, boasting a smooth and elegant finish that is a pleasure to handle. It opens and closes effortlessly, reflecting the high-quality build that Edifier is known for. The Edifier logo is subtly embossed on the case, adding a touch of brand elegance without being overpowering.

A small light indicator shows when the earbuds are charging, and what’s even better is that you can change the color of these indicators through the Edifier app. Whether you prefer red, yellow, pink, or white, it’s a really slick feature that adds a bit of personalization.

One minor downside is that the case doesn't support wireless charging. However, it makes up for this with a fast-charging USB-C port and impressive battery life. The earbuds themselves are beautifully designed and fit perfectly in my ears. Unlike the AirPods design, which I’m not a big fan of, these earbuds are stylish and well-crafted, providing both comfort and a secure fit inside the sturdy case. They won't fall out, ensuring they stay protected and ready for use.

sound quality

When it comes to sound quality, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 truly shine. I tested them with both a Google Pixel, which supports Hi-Res Audio and the LDAC codec, and an iPhone 15 Plus using Amazon Music for Ultra HD audio. While they undeniably sound better on Android with Hi-Res Audio wireless, the performance on the iPhone is still quite impressive.

The active noise cancellation is effective, providing a significant reduction in background noise. Additionally, they feature spatial audio, which I personally find less appealing since some tracks don’t seem to be optimized for it. However, the Edifier app compensates with a variety of equalizer settings that you can customize manually, allowing you to tailor the sound to your liking.

The microphone quality is excellent; calls are clear, and people on the other end can hear me perfectly well. In terms of music playback, my experience has been very positive with the NeoBuds Pro 2. High-Resolution audio tracks on Amazon Music sound superb, particularly on an Android device. Even on an iPhone, the sound quality is exceptional, outperforming AirPods in my opinion.

Battery life is satisfactory, and while the touch controls on the earbuds can be a bit unintuitive initially, it’s a matter of getting used to them, as each set of earbuds has its own learning curve. Overall, for the price, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 deliver excellent sound quality, making them a solid choice for anyone looking for high-performance earbuds.

final thoughts

Me and the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2

If you want to blend in with everyone else and you have an iPhone, go ahead and get AirPods. The sound quality might not blow you away, but you’ll fit right in with the crowd. However, if you’re like me and appreciate something different, value superior audio quality, and enjoy standing out a bit, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 are a fantastic choice. Their design is sleek and stylish, and they deliver impressive sound quality.

For Android users, it’s an easy decision. The NeoBuds Pro 2’s high-resolution audio capabilities make them a no-brainer. Even for iPhone users, despite the codec limitations, the sound quality is still remarkable and definitely surpasses that of AirPods.

If you use streaming services like Spotify or YouTube Music, don’t worry about missing out on high-res audio, as these services don’t support it anyway. The battery life is solid, the design is top-notch, and the overall product quality is outstanding.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2. They have exceeded my expectations in both sound quality and active noise cancellation for earbuds. It’s a resounding yes from me, and you’d be missing out if you didn’t give them a try.

Disclaimer: Edifier sent me the NeoBuds Pro 2 for review purposes. My opinions are my own, and I will never recommend a product that I don't like or feel that you won't be happy with.
